Dev Update: Telegram Verification, Rebuilt

For some users, Telegram verification could end with a blank browser tab while My Mine waited for a confirmation that was never going to arrive.

We rebuilt the flow to make Telegram verification simpler. The new verification flow is now live in My Mine.

The old verification flow

Previously, verifying your Telegram membership meant leaving My Mine, opening a Telegram bot through a link, and sending START. The process relied on a temporary verification link and a series of steps between My Mine and Telegram. That created several points where verification could stop working.

On desktop, the link could open Telegram without the desktop app installed, leaving you with a blank browser tab while My Mine continued waiting.

An expired verification link could also interfere with a later attempt. In some cases, the bot could fail to detect that you had joined the group, leaving the verification process waiting for an event that never arrived.

The workaround for the desktop issue also asked users to copy a sensitive link and open it in Telegram. In a crypto environment, that can easily resemble a phishing flow.

The new approach

The new flow is simpler:

  1. You connect your Telegram account directly from the My Mine website.
  2. My Mine receives the verified Telegram account and connects it to your wallet.
  3. My Mine checks whether that Telegram account is a member of the community group.
  4. If you have not joined yet, the interface tells you what is missing and gives you options to open the group or check again.
  5. Your membership is checked again when you start a new session.

The difference is straightforward: instead of sending you through a separate bot flow and waiting for a membership event, My Mine can check your Telegram membership directly.

What you see now

The new interface uses direct actions such as Connect Telegram, Open Telegram group, and Check again. It can also give you a clear response when something needs your attention, such as when the connected Telegram account is already associated with another wallet or has not joined the group yet. This replaces a waiting state with a clear action and response.

Existing users keep their verification

Existing verified users remain verified and do not need to repeat the process. You can also change your connected Telegram account yourself. The new account only replaces the current association after it passes verification, so a cancelled or failed attempt leaves the existing connection unchanged.

A simpler flow with fewer moving parts

The new verification process does not continuously monitor the Telegram group. Membership is checked when you start a new session and when you press Check again.

That trade-off keeps the verification flow focused on a question that can be answered directly: is this Telegram account currently a member of the community?

The goal was simple: remove unnecessary steps, reduce the places where verification can get stuck, and make the status clearer when you need to take action.
